Accounting Club

Professional Organization

The Accounting Club provides a place for students with similar academic interests to meet, establish friendships, communicate ideas, and acquire valuable knowledge of the accounting profession. The purpose of the organization is to recognize and encourage an active interest in the profession of accounting and to keep abreast of advances and trends in the accounting field. The accounting club is supported by the Members, Alumni, and the Accounting Department which, in any combination, help to form a network of friendships and opportunities that can be called upon for guidance, insight, and recommendations.

Alpha Mu Alpha

Honor Society

Alpha Mu Alpha is a national marketing honorary society recognizing and rewarding scholastic achievement among marketing students. To be invited to join Alpha Mu Alpha, marketing majors are required to have 90+ credit hours and be in the top 15% of their class based on GPA. American Advertising Federation (AAF)

Professional Organization

American Advertising Federation at Texas State University (AAF TXST) is a student-run organization at Texas State University, San Marcos for students interested in careers in advertising and advertising-related industries. AAF TXST is Texas State’s official collegiate chapter of the American Advertising Federation and serves to connect students with the AAF, Austin Ad Fed, and Ad2Austin. 

AAF TXST’s purpose is to help students network with advertising professionals in Austin and San Antonio as well as nationwide, and be a part of a community of future advertising professionals within Texas State. 

Their goal is to help students hone their networking and professional skills to be applied towards their prospective careers in advertising, including creative, business and account services, research, marketing, media planning, public relations, and multi-media production.

American Marketing Association (AMA)

Professional Organization

The Texas State University American Marketing Association (AMA) is an organization with the mission of advancing the practice and appreciation of marketing among our diverse student body in addition to professionals who wish to increase their knowledge and skills through national and local programming. The AMA is the only organization that provides direct benefits to marketing professionals and students while serving all levels of marketing practitioners, educators, and students. AMA welcomes all majors!

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP)

Honor Society + Professional Organization

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) was founded in 1919, and the Kappa Eta Chapter was chartered at Texas State University in 2001. Since their inception, the national BAP office has recognized the Texas State chapter each year with the superior chapter award. This included their pledge year, which has been awarded to only two chapters before. The Texas State BAP chapter maintains this honor by obtaining pledges, members and officers who commit themselves to the highest standards.

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) 

Honor Society

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation opened the door to Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the preeminent honor society for business programs accredited by AACSB International, and the Texas State BGS chapter was established in November 1997. Only those students who meet rigorous standards of academic achievement are inducted into the organization.

Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO)

Professional Organization

Helping dreams come true for young entrepreneurs and college business owners, the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) chapter at Texas State University is an award-winning group of entrepreneurs and business students. CEO is a global network that informs, supports, and inspires college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation. 

Throughout the semester we promote collegiate entrepreneurs on and around our campus through fundraising activities, internships, and even our own businesses. Every fall semester, more than 1,600 students, faculty, and others interested in entrepreneurship attend a 2 1/2-day CEO Conference where students come together to network, compete in a variety of different competitions, and that's not all. Over 80 outstanding entrepreneurs and business leaders share their ideas and expertise with students on how they launched their businesses, the lessons they've learned, and where they are today.

Data Analytics Club

Student Organization

The Data Analytics Club at Texas State is a campus organization that provides a forum to explore the field of data analytics, including “big data”, web analytics, and predictive analytics. Activities of the club may include events and workshops, discussions, and presentations by professionals active in the field. Topics of discussions may be technical or of general interest and can provide students with an opportunity to explore topics relating to career opportunities in data analytics. The club may also engage in competitions to test and develop skills and knowledge related to data analytics.

Entrepreneurial Action Us (ENACTUS)

Entrepreneurial Action Us (ENACTUS) is a global, non-profit organization that is changing the world through highly dedicated student teams on more than 1,600 university campuses in 40 countries. ENACTUS offers these students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise, thereby improving the standard of living for millions in the process. Involvement with this organization is through the Students in Free Enterprise class (MKT 3362) and requires instructor approval.

Entrepreneurial Innovators Group (EIG) 

Professional Organization

The purpose of the Entrepreneurial Innovators Group (EIG) is to: 

  • Connect Texas State students with innovative projects by EIG’s international partners and foster entrepreneurship in the process.
  • Increase international interactions between EIG members and partners in multiple localities in the world.
  • Learn to build sustainable business ecosystems by realizing the inadequacy of our individualism and striking a balance between our freedom to pursue creative ideas and real-world requirements.
  • Support and participate in startups created by EIG members. EIG stands for Entrepreneurial Innovators Group, but in business creation.

EIG embodies energy, initiation, and glocality.

Financial Management Association (FMA)

Professional Organization

The Financial Management Association at Texas State University allows students to become more familiar with the different career opportunities within the financial industry. FMA is open to all majors and has had a wide variety of speakers from such companies to come and speak about what their position entails, what they look for when hiring, and possible internship positions. FMA has co-hosted events such as “A Conversation About the Current Economic Crisis,” where a panel of guest speakers answered questions and further explained the economic crisis to a large student audience.

The goal of the Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) at Texas State University is to prepare members for their future endeavors and encourage them to become great leaders while fostering communication with the McCoy College of Business Administration, building business acumen and professional skills. McCoy College Ambassadors (MCA)

Invitation-only service organization

The McCoy College Ambassadors are a select group of students chosen each semester and recognized as active student leaders and representatives of McCoy College. Above all, these students express a desire to engage other students on topics of leadership and personal development. Ambassadors interact with the Dean Ramchander and serve as a student advisory council to him. In addition, the group engages with their classmates as peer mentors to promote leadership and involvement within the college. 

Ambassadors are also involved with outreach to prospective students and college guests. The program is specifically designed for engaged student leaders and provides opportunities to strengthen leadership skills.

National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)

Professional Organization

The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) is focused on developing, encouraging, and serving as a resource for greater participation by African Americans and other minorities in the accounting, finance, and business professions.  We assist minority students in entering the accounting and finance profession by developing professional skills of our members and providing opportunities for members to network and fulfill their civic responsibility.  We participate in chapter, regional, and national programs.

Net Impact

Professional Organization

Award-winning Net Impact provides members with hands-on experience at top quality, unique sustainability projects on campus and along the IH-35 corridor. Net Impact is an organization of 60,000 global members including McCoy College’s gold chapter. Speakers at General Meetings bring firsthand knowledge on the 3P’s—people, planet, and profit—in business including crowdfunding and energy auditing innovators. Members learn through practice by becoming a project manager at one or more of the major projects. Projects are the backbone of the organization. 

Make a positive impact in the world participating in initiatives such as, Up to Us (reducing the national debt Silver Award presented by President Clinton), Awake Aware America (blending technology and sustainability for “at promise” high school students recognized by President Obama), Circuit of the Americas (working with data collection and resource recovery at MOTO GP and FORMULA 1), Green Impact Campaign (auditing 54% of the buildings on campus saving the university $40,000) and other opportunities to lead and to learn.

Professional Fraternity

Phi Alpha Delta is a pre-law student organization dedicated to providing the most useful and accurate information for law school-bound students. We do so by creating a network of people and legal resources. Our meetings often consist of law school panels, and we invite lawyers, judges, law school admissions personnel, and law school students to speak about their unique perspectives. We also provide LSAT test prep services at a discounted rate. Phi Alpha Delta is committed to creating an atmosphere of motivation, encouragement, and focus for all law school-bound students.

The McCoy Graduate Student Association (MGSA) is comprised of all current McCoy College graduate business students (MBA, MAcy, MSAIT, MSHRM, MSDAIS, MSMRA and MSQFE programs) as well as all alumni, and strives to be a cohesive network of current and former students who are actively engaged in activities which enhance business knowledge, management skills, and leadership abilities. The National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) is an organization dedicated to supporting all MBA students with a focus on advancing women into leadership.
